- My work deals with creative practices in experimental economies & finance, hacktivism, and narrative media, and as part of my artistic research and practice (and my belief that another world is possible) I organized the cooperative media conglomerate Diego de la Vega. I finished the Media Art Histories M.A. program at Donau-Universität Krems in Austria (now I'm hoping my thesis proposal gets accepted, which by the way is tentatively titled
"Zapatista network culture: from the Electronic Disturbance Theatre to La Otra Cultura"), where I was awarded a Leonardo Foundation Scholarship. In college i studied Latin American Studies at Alliant International University.
- i'm in a 3+ year long love relation with militant researcher Jennifer Flores Sternad (my flesh and blood Jessica Rabbit). We live in Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn (NYC). i jog 12.33 km's daily with my nike+ rfid tennis shoes and an ipod touch. i have a PSP that i don't play as often as i should. i have a very soft spot for coca-cola and i believe it should be nationalized in México to pay for other stuff (like Havana Club in Cuba). i believe in digital maoism and Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos. I think of me as a pocho from the wrong side of the border, a cybercholo.
- My favorite OS is UNIX. I prefer html and vintage virtual communities over social networks. Does anybody want to play a campaign of Cyberpunk 2020 in Second Life? I'm reading 'Financial Institutions Management' by Anthony Saunders & Marcia Milon Cornett(here are some of my previous reads). I do own an ipad and a kindle. My favorite word processor is still a parker fountain pen (¡cojamos el fusil y la pluma!). i have a weakness for Sony divas like Shakira, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, etc, but also for Siouxsie, Yulduz, etc.
# Diego de la Vega operations are: Collective Intelligence Agency (think tank), Fiction Department (r&d lab of narrative media), Kahho (artisanal electronics), Mundo Posible (advertisement), Possibleworlds (cooperative server), Sabotage (management), SpaceBank (community investment bank), Sweatshop (workstation), and El Zorro de La Mesa (community newspaper).
